Monday evening, news sources began to report that Dr. Dre would be producing a movie based on the life story of singer Marvin Gaye.\u00a0 In an exclusive telephone interview released to Executive 1 Media Group, Marvin Gaye III stated \u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI love and highly respect Dr. Dre, but the announcement was made prematurely and in error by news sources. We are in talks with Dr. Dre about his participation on musical selections concerning the film, but he is not producing the movie.\u00a0 I was in utter shock over the news reports. \u00a0Dr. Dre does not have the rights, script approval, or approval from me, as an heir of the Gaye family.\u00a0 If I was to give my blessing to anyone to bring my father&#8217;s story to life, I would choose Music Mogul Vassal Benford because he has the understanding of my father\u2019s heart, and Mega Film Producer Mark Canton, because of the vision he can bring to the audience\u201d. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Music Mogul Vassal Benford is a known film producer, Grammy-nominated and award-winning music producer. \u00a0His experience in scoring is extensive, with numerous hit films and television projects such as &#8211; <em>New Jack City<\/em>, Arnold Schwarzenegger\u2019s <em>Running Man<\/em>, H<em>ouse Party<\/em>, Whoopi Goldberg\u2019s <em>The Associate<\/em>, <em>Melrose Place,<\/em> and <em>Beverly Hills 90210<\/em>.\u00a0 Most recently, Vassal released a smash-hit record, with mega star DJ Diplo feat &#8211; Justin Bieber &amp; Skrillex. The single, titled <em>Be Right There<\/em>, garnered over five hundred million streams and was considered Platinum. The mogul was also awarded the Vanguard Award from Al Sharpton\u2019s National Action Network. He was also named one of the \u2018Most Influential African American Leaders of 2017\u2019 by Congress Woman Maxine Waters.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Canton is known for producing blockbusters, such as his 2018 box office hits <em>300 &#8211; Den of Thieves<\/em>, <em>Immortals,<\/em> and the hit TV show <em>Power<\/em>.
